What is up with the "ending" of Hikaru no Go?
This has been bugging me for nearly a year now, and I can't find any answers. If anyone has read or watched this series, then they understand as well. Spoilers after this point if you haven't.
The manga ends abruptly, to the point that it leaves me wondering if that's really the end. None of the players in the series (Hikaru, Akira, etc.) ever reached the 'Hand of God', and wasn't that the whole center plotline? That was everyone's goal and yet where Yumi Hotta leaves it, no one has done it.
Not to mention the fact that when it ends, Hikaru thinks he can hear Sai again, meaning that Sai's going to make a return? Why on earth end it there?
Anyway, if anyone knows the answer, and I've looked; perhaps Yumi Hotta passed away, decided not to finish the series, or if the artist Takeshi Obata, who is the artist and author of Death Note, took his talent on into creating said manga and left Yumi high and dry...please let me know.
Thank you.
As far as I know, nobody passed away or decided to not finish the series or abandoned it for Death Note. I think the author was just trying to give it the appropriate ending and, uh. Well. Flopped. To put it frankly. Sometimes when I read it over I think I see what they were trying to go for, sort of, maybe, but. Yeah flopped.
I still have this little seed of hope inside that one day it will be continued and address all the stuff you pointed out, but. My cynical side is far greater :/
