Civil War questions?
I'm doing a project on the Civil War, and I'm having trouble finding the answers to these questions. I'd appreciate it if you could provide information or websites that would help me.
~How did Robert E. Lee help North Carolina? What work did he do there?
~What conflicts did Zebulon Vance have with the Confederate government?
~A quick "sum it up" of the Concervative Party?
~Any information on Robert E. Lee would be helpful. Wikipedia, Answers.com, etc. are not giving me the answers I need.
These are not questions I have been given to answer, these are things I have run into as I'm completing my project.

bluebelly83: Thanks for all your help, that's great. "Concervative Party" is very vague, I know. That one was the exact question I was given. That's why I'm having such a hard time with it, because I'm not completely sure what I'm being asked.
Lee and NC: I'm currently studying the Civil War in NC and I would say Lee did not really help the state that much. Lee's first love was Virginia. Lee definitely had respect for the Tar Heel soldiers because they made up much of his Army of Northern Virginia, but he did not have a specific relationship with the state that I know of.
Zeb Vance conflicted with the CSA government in a number of ways. Most significantly Vance thought the CSA government's responsibility was to provide for the soldiers and their families. As a soldier in the 26th NC, Vance learned this was not happening. When he became governor of NC, his first push was to get care for the soldiers and their families, especially in terms of simple provisions such as clothes and food.
The "Conservative Party" is very very vague... I don't really know what you mean here. There were essentially two sides in the debate during NC and the Civil War... one side want to stay with the Union and the other side wanted to secede. Obviously they chose to secede and stick with the South. While the war dragged on, people began switching over to the Unionist side in vast numbers, especially in the western part of the state. East Tennessee was staunchly Unionist and their influence caused many western Tar Heels to follow suit.
