Am I thinking about music production here or something else music related?
I saw an intro to music studio class (or something like that) in my school's classes brochure and was really interested in it b/c i always wanted to know how to mess with the beats in the music or mess with a song in general. i also dance, so starting to choreograph, i think it'd be pretty cool if i could make my own mixes and such.
But I think I really have a thing for music, so if you could tell me about how to become that person that makes a soundtrack or the layout of a song that would be pretty cool. Am I looking at that music-studio class here or should I major in music? I keep hearing things like "audio-engineering" and "[freelance] music production" and what not. Also, do I need to buy a program? Do people just go to a studio? Sorry about all the questions-I just don't know what I'm trying to do lol
You're thinking about music production. If you take a class in it, they'll teach you to use certain software - probably Steinberg Cubase and Propellerhead Reason. There will probably be computers for you to work on that have the software, but it's much more fun to buy it for yourself.
