How can I turn a piece of plastic into sterling silver?
I have this small plastic figure that I want to make into sterling silver. How can I get it casted? Do I have to get it molded first. How?
Basically need to know, how can I duplicate the plastic piece in silver. What method would be used?
I would suggest looking around for artist craft open house events which are fairly common in the US in the Fall. Look for people who are making silver cast jewelry and talk to them with pictures of the piece or the actual piece. Making a mold from a convoluted piece can be time consuming and expensive, but if it is the right shape, it can be much easier. However, most artist jewelers are working from a wax they carve, not from a mold made of something (other than the wax) so you may find people who have the equipment and the knowledge for casting who just don't want to work with a mold or with other people's stuff.
