RIP J.G. Ballard. What are your favourite Works by/Influenced by this Man?
this is interesting... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8008277.stm ... for the 'R&P'...
so, look at the link above (and those below) and tell me which musicians/music/cinema/works or any culture influenced by Ballard you like... or even his own original work...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jg_ballard ... very interesting fella!
also interesting... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2041260.stm
I recommend this book... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_User%27s_Guide_to_the_Millennium:_Essays_and_Reviews
... and this is my favourite tune inspired by Ballard... 'Warm Leatherette'- The Normal... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZKAa4kCARY
Hey Sookie
thanks for answering!... yeah that song is pretty crazy... it's basically a musical interpretation of the (even crazier!) short 'story' Ballard wrote that was then turned into Cronenberg's film... 'Crash'... i was kinda worried Yahoo wouldn't post it lol!
Hi, migh!
I hadn't heard about this. Out of what was listed, I do like Suede and what I've heard from the Manic Street Preachers. I thought OK Computer was a good album, too.
The Wiki article also mentions J. Robbins from Jawbox, who cites him as his favorite writer, and his influence in a few of their songs off of "For Your Own Special Sweetheart". I'm a *huge* Jawbox fan and of that album in particular.
The song you posted is wild!
The Normal - Warm Leatherette
