Are tattoo's exceptable in the fashion industry?
I currently work in fashion PR but I recently got offered a job at a fashion magazine. And i'm very excited. But I have a tattoo on my wrist that says "Speechless".It can easily be covered up by a watch/bracelet though . Will they care at the magazine if they see it or do they only care about how good i am at the job?
Well, honestly it depends doesn't it? I mean, now that you got hired by this magazine, you are representing them. You need to think if the company would benefit from your tattoo and if it would represent their ideals. If you got hired by a magazine like The Rolling Stones, I'm sure you'ed be fine, but if it was something like Proper Dining, that might be something to cover up.
It honestly depends on the kind of firm this magazine business is. The tattoo "speechless" isn't vulgar nor is it too controversial. Plus, it could work to your benefit with the fashion magazine. I mean like, when someone asks, "What's your tattoo mean?" you could respond, "speechless represents my thoughts on fashion and the feeling it should instill upon anyone when you experience its thrill."
If it's a fashion magazine for the rich and proper, lose it. If it's a magazine for the stylish edgy new trends, keep it. Just use the explanation for your tattoo for your benefit.
